Description
The shawl is a generous size at nearly 2 metres long and 43cm wide and can be worn in a variety of ways. It is made from 100% mulberry silk yarn in a crochet lace stitch. The yarn is hand dyed in small batches and is a blue / green colour overall, but has a natural variegation of shades, that is a feature of hand dyed yarns. The yarn dyer’s name for the shade is ‘Kingfisher pushing up the daisies’ – they have a somewhat eccentric and fabulous sense of humour!
As with all silk yarns, there is a lovely silvery sheen to this yarn, particularly when under stronger light – very pretty. The stitch pattern I’ve used creates ripples and waves throughout the length of the shawl and because of the lovely light nature of the yarn, it falls is lovely soft folds; even on the edges of the shawl, which are perfectly straight – silk moves with an elegance all of its own.
