Description

Ribbon weaving seems a very appropriate fabric to have in a wedding ring pillow since a marriage between two people involves weaving together their lives and the lives of their families.

The woven fabric in these little pillows is made by weaving together lengths of double sided offray satin ribbon, each of which is just 3mm wide.  This is then fused to interfacing to make the fabric for the front of the pillow and the back of the pillow is made with a piece of ivory coloured hand loom dupion silk (which can be seen under the pillows in the photographs).  The filling is high loft polyester stuffing, which gives the pillow a lovely rounded shape and a very soft feel.

The vintage style heart shaped pillow is 9.5cm at the widest point (ignoring the lace), uses ribbons in shades of cream, pink and mint, and is trimmed with pretty cotton lace and a hand made ribbon rose.  The more contemporary style square pillow is 9cm and the colours are lilacs, blue and silver.  This pillow is embellished with a silver colour button in the shape of an edelweiss, an alpine flower that is a symbol of purity.
