DPN holder, cosy or case for 6 or 8 inch dpns made with nani iro designed black, cream and silver cotton lawn, with metal press studs

If you do a lot of sock knitting, you’re probably very familiar with the idea of the dpn cosy, but many knitters (including me until fairly recently!) don’t know about these fabulous little holders for work in progress on double points. I used to squish up my knitting on the needles and then drop it into a project bag where I could accidentally knock some of the stitches off the needles or, get everything tangled up in yarn or other things I had in the bag – very irritating. With these holders, your needles and stitches are safely tucked away until you open the holder to take them out and restart your knitting.

This holder is made with a beautiful monochrome cotton lawn fabric in a print called Lei Nani. It’s from Nani Iro’s exclusive Beau Yin Yang collection for Kokka fabrics. It has a ghostly black base decorated with cream flowers and pops of metallic silver overlaid – such a striking, modern look. I’ve partnered the print with a rich, matt black Essex Linen and silver press studs. The outer is interfaced with woven cotton and I then add a layer of fleece to add a little protection for your needles.

I offer the cosy in two sizes for 8″ or 6″ needles and another option to add a 3rd snap to the 8″ size so that it can be used with circular needles, if magic loop is your thing. You can see how this works in the last 3 photos – essentially, you put your tips together into the left of the cosy, the cable sits to the right, above the right hand snap, and you push another loop of the cable around the extra snap to secure it.
