Description

Every organised woman has the wherewithall within her handbag to sew on a button or make a quick running repair in an emergency while travelling. Not every woman keeps this wherewithall in a pretty sewing case!

I’ve been making sewing cases for a while now and this one is my very latest design, which offers a good amount of storage space in a very small area. I’ve done away with the scissor keep pocket at the back of my usual case design and replaced it with a large divided pocket, which better allows for use of your own scissors, if you don’t want to buy the case with the ones I offer.

This sewing case is machine and hand stitched using a classic Liberty Tana Lawn print called ‘Mitsi’ – a delicate floral in silver, greys and pinks. The lining is made with a Metallic Essex Linen in a sugary pink shade, with irridescent metallic threads, which is difficult to catch on camera, but you can probably see best in the third photograph. The closure is a metal snap, with another metal snap closing on the front internal pocket. There’s another larger pocket at the back of the case, which is divided into two – one side designed to fit a pair of small scissors and the other, a slim pincushion. Both of the pockets are decorated with machine embroidery and the back pocket has a vintage button, perfectly placed to use as an anchor for your scissor fob cord. This button may not be the same as the one pictured on the case – as they’re vintage, my collection changes all the time and you can see some of my current collection in the last photo as a sample.

The central felt pages for needles and pins are blended wool felt in a creamy shade. The outer, lining and pockets of the case are interfaced with woven cotton to add strength and give structure, and the outer is also softly padded with fusible fleece.

You can purchase the case with or without sewing tools, which include really good quality mini scissors. The scissors are attached to a matching pincushion with a crocheted perle cotton cord, which acts as a scissor fob to stop your scissors from wandering too far! There are some pretty long dressmaker’s pins, safety pins, three high quality John James hand sewing needles in the sizes I find most useful, a needle threader and a card wrapped with white, black, red and beige thread. If you like the print but would like to commission your own case with particular features, please message me to discuss what’s possible.

The case when closed is 4.25 high, by 4.5 inches wide (11cm by 11.5cm).
