Description
I’m calling this a project bag because that’s how I’d use it, but you can use it however you like! If you don’t have endless knit, crochet and sewing projects to put in it as I do, you could use it as a larger sized make up bag, for toiletries, or really anything else you’d put in a generously sized zippered bag. It makes a great gift for a creative friend – trust me, they’ll find LOTS of things to put in it!
The bag is made with a beautifully silky cotton lawn print called ‘Wild Flowers’, which is part of the Sleeping Porch collection by Heather Ross for Windham fabrics. To make the fine lawn fabric a little more durable, I interface it with a woven cotton, before partnering it with a toning plum coloured Essex Linen by Robert Kaufman. I then add another layer of interfacing to the whole, before adding a layer of fleece for a soft squishiness. The bag is lined with a matching plum coloured cotton lawn from the Sleeping Porch collection, which is interfaced with woven cotton and has a slip pocket added. Everything is then stitched together with a good quality YKK zip and top stitched for a tidy finish. The final touch is adding a removable wristlet strap using a simple keychain loop and clasp.
The bag stands 7.75 inches / 19.5cm tall and is 9.5 inches / 24cm wide at the widest point. The depth measured across the bottom is 3.5 inches / 8.25cm. I’ve included a picture of the bag with a skein of yarn, to give an idea of scale. If you prefer your bag to open up wide and don’t mind a small gap at the end of the zip, let me know when ordering and I’ll install the zip slightly differently when making your bag to enable this (see the last three photos for an idea of how this looks).
If you’re looking for a particular colour scheme or theme for your project bag, please get in touch via convo or a custom order request and I’ll let you know what I can do. I’m also happy to include particular design details or create a different size or shape, if I’m able. If you want to add a matching fabric sewing case, needle book, or maybe a matching coin purse for your smaller notions, I can do that too.
You can now pimp your project bag and add a hand embroidered monogram, swap out the wristlet strap for an adjustable shoulder strap, or change the internal slip pocket for a matching notions bag (as shown in the 5th photo)! Here’s the listing to add those options, if you’d like to: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/518172855/pimp-my-project-bag-add-a-hand?ref=shop_home_active_1
Please note that the photographs here are of one sample bag and your bag may look slightly different, according to how the fabric is cut.

oconnorgirls –
This bag is gorgeous. I’d had it in my favorites for a very long time and finally treated myself to it. It’s extremely well made, stands up by itself and looks as vibrant and lovely as the picture. So happy with this, thank you so much.
