Drawstring project bag made with super cute Guinea Pig print and sparkling metallic Essex Linen in a choice of blue or copper

I have to admit that many fabrics in my extensive stash secured their place on the basis of “I have to have that!” and this Guinea Pig print is definitely one of those! I had no thought about what I would do with it, I just had to have it! Fortunately, as often happens, when I shared a photo of it on Instagram, someone else knew exactly what she’d like me to do with it, so I made drawstring project bags.

We should probably call these bags Glitter Pig bags, because this super cute print just seemed perfect with sparkling Essex Linen. The blue water and the copper metallic colourways felt so perfect with this print, so I’m offering the bags in both colourways. The cotton lining colours I’ve used are picked up in the print detail too.

The bag is a perfect size for a smaller project – certainly large enough for a one skein shawl, but compact and squishy enough to take with you in a larger bag when you’re on the go. You can see the dimensions of the bags in the last photograph.

I’ve added a yarn guide with metal press stud opening in the side seams of the bag and the corners have been folded to create pretty triangle shapes that flatten the bag and help it stand on it’s own so you can work out of it. The drawstrings are a lovely soft cotton woven cord in matching shades, and I’ve sealed the ends with some PVC tape, for a tidy finish.

All the fabrics have been interfaced with woven cotton for strength and to help resist creasing a little, and I’ve added a layer of fleece for a little more body and padding. Please note that the fabric placement in the photographs is of sample bags, and your bag could look slightly different, depending on how the fabric is cut.
