Description
This little coin purse is the perfect size to pop into your pocket with a little cash, a key and maybe a lip balm, when you want to travel light. It’s also a great way to wrap up a money gift for a birthday or holiday gift, or to give as a bridesmaid gift.
This pretty print is from Liberty’s Winter 2013 Collection and was designed by the tattoo artist Mo Coppoletta. The design is derived from a fascination Mo has with nursery rhymes and their dark magic. He wanted to symbolise the Liberty peacock by using different kinds of birds, adorning them with strings of pearls, deco brooches and surrounding them with dragonflies, all of which were inspired by Liberty archive prints from the 1920s. The result is a surrealist design with deep dark grounds.
The lining of the purse is a hot pink coloured linen and cotton blend fabric called Essex Linen, which contrasts beautifully with the dark background of the print and matches the pink of some of the birds. The outer fabric is interlined to add strength and structure. I’ve also added a soft fleece interfacing to the outer purse fabric to give a puffy effect that feels nice in your hand.
The engraved metal frame of the purse is a silver colour and I’ve hand stitched it into place using a toning perle cotton in a deep pink shade. If you’d like to add a wristlet strap as shown in the last photograph, the listing for that is here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/272705402/wristlet-strap-for-coin-purse-can-be?ref=shop_home_active_11
The purse measures 8cm (3.25 inches) across at the top of the frame and 10cm (4 inches) across at the bottom, where I’ve boxed off the corners to give a little depth to the bottom of the purse of 3.5cm (1.5 inches). It stands a little over 9cm (3.5 inches) tall, which is just right to carry a credit card or two, if you wish to.
Please note that the photographs of the purse here are of one sample purse and your purse may look slightly different, according to how the fabric is cut.
