Description
Every organised woman has the wherewithall within her handbag to sew on a button or make a quick running repair in an emergency while travelling. Not every woman keeps this wherewithall in a pretty sewing case!
This sewing case is made from a handpieced and hand quilted patchwork outer of little half triangles of floral and paisley lightweight cotton and is 10cm square. The inner is made with crisp looking Essex linen fabric (a blend of linen and cotton) with pages of wool mix felt in the centre for needles and pins. On the inside cover is a scissors keeper and there are 3 pockets of different sizes on the back cover, which are trimmed with binding made from the same fabric as the patchwork outer. Everything is hand stitched.
The button is coconut shell, the fixing loop is crocheted gold lurex to add a touch of bling, and I’ve also added a small panel of crocheted shells in the same thread to the first page of the felt book as decoration.
I’ve added a few stitching essentials to get you started: a pair of mini scissors, some pretty heart shaped long dressmaker’s pins, safety pins, three buttons and three needles, pre-threaded with black, red and white.
The dimensions given are for the case when closed.
