The feature fabric on this drawstring project bag is Bari J’s Budquette Nightfall from her Emmy Grace collection for Art Gallery, which I’ve partnered with a dark grey Essex Linen on the outer and a bright and happy orange for the lining.
The bag is a perfect size for a smaller project – great for socks, but certainly large enough for a smaller shawl and compact and squishy enough to take with you in a larger bag when you’re on the go. You can see the dimensions of the bag in the last photograph.
I’ve added a yarn guide with metal press stud opening in the side seam of the lining and the corners on the outside have been folded to create pretty triangle shapes that flatten the bag and help it stand on it’s own so you can work out of it. The drawstrings are a lovely soft cotton woven cord in a matching shade, and I’ve sealed the ends with some fabric washi tape I made, for a tidy finish.
All the fabrics have been interfaced with woven cotton for strength and to help resist creasing a little, and I’ve added a layer of fleece for a little more body and padding. Please note that the fabric placement in the photographs is of one sample bag, and your bag could look slightly different, depending on how the fabric is cut.
